As if 2021 Taliban’s military offensive against Afghanistan was not enough, more than 1.7 million Afghan refugees are now facing expulsions. Their lives have been thrown off-balance owing to Pakistan’s new policy which imposed October 31 as the deadline for all illegal refugees and migrants to leave the country. Pakistan claims the policy came after efforts to exert pressure on Kabul in order to rein in Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan failed. Citing security concerns, acting Prime Minister Anwar ul-Haq Kakar said that TTP attacks have risen by 60% since the Taliban regained control of Afghanistan.
