Published On: July 24, 2023 - The Indian government does not plan to create a distinct policy exclusively for granting incentives to Tesla, the electric car manufacturer. Instead, the company is eligible to apply for incentives under the existing schemes, such as the Production-Linked Incentives (PLI) for the auto industry and advanced chemistry cells. The government has introduced two schemes, one with a budget of Rs 18,100 crore for advanced chemistry cell (ACC) battery storage and another PLI scheme worth Rs 26,058 crore for the auto, auto-components, and drone sectors.
