Congress Poll Promises Run Into Trouble

Published On: June 28, 2023 - Two of the 5 flagship guarantees promised the ruling Congress in Karnataka seem to have run into problems. While the Anna Bhagya scheme promised 10 kgs of rice to Below Poverty Line families, the Griha Lakshmi Scheme promised Rs 2,000 per month to women heads of all households across the state. To fulfil Anna Bhagya, the state government does not have the required quantity of rice and in the case of Griha Lakshmi, there is a paucity of funds. Is this the proverbial case of biting more than the Congress could chew?
