Free Ration Scheme Expanded to Benefit 80 Crore People

Published On: November 06, 2023 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Centre's free ration scheme, which will benefit 80 crore people, will be extended by 5 more years. The monthly quantity of food grains has been defined as per the categories mandated under the provisions of the NFSA Act. The food security scheme, Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, was launched in April 2020 and last extended in February 2023.
