Gig Worker Report: Ola, Uber, and Porter Rank Low; Bigbasket and Flipkart Excel

Published On: October 31, 2023 - Internet companies such as Ola, Uber, Dunzo, and Porter are amongst the worst-ranked companies on the scale of fair policies, a report by Fairwork India shows. In addition, the report finds that just three companies - Bigbasket, Flipkart, and Urban Company - have a minimum wage policy for their gig workers. The report gauges the working conditions of gig workers in India on five principles: Fair Pay, Fair Conditions, Fair Contracts, Fair Management and Fair Representation. The report is the fifth edition of the annual study conducted across 12 e-commerce platforms by Fairwork India team, led by International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore's Centre for IT and Public Policy.
