Government Approves $10 Billion Laptop Imports from 110 of 111 Applications

Published On: November 02, 2023 - The government has approved 110 out of 111 applications, authorising the import of laptops and tablets. Amongst those who received the government's nod are companies such as Leneno, Dell, HP, Apple, etc. These goods are worth around $10 billion. However, only one application was rejected as it fell under the category of 'denied entities' list. Under the new licence regime, laptops, personal computers, etc. are put under a monitoring mechanism to ensure trust in the supply chain. The system came into force from Nov 1.
