Government Unearths GST Evasion of ₹3.33 Trillion

Published On: July 26, 2023 - Over the past five years, GST authorities have identified tax evasion amounting to Rs 3.33 trillion, with Rs 1.08 trillion successfully recovered. Within the period of FY19 to FY23, a total of 25,449 fake GST registrations were discovered, out of which 2,154 were suspended, and 17,105 were cancelled. Among the regions, Delhi recorded the highest number of fake GST registrations detected (5,810), followed by Tamil Nadu (2,654), Gujarat (2,364), Punjab (2,214), and Maharashtra (2,163).
