Hmar Group of Kuki-Zo Community Signs a Peace Treaty with Meiteis for Jiribam District

Published On: August 02, 2024 - A major breakthrough in Manipur occurred as the Meiteis and the Hmar group of Kuki-Zo signed a peace pact for Jiribam district. The agreement commits both groups to restoring normalcy and preventing arson and shooting incidents. Facilitated by the state government, this pact between the Meitei and Hmar leaders in Assam seeks to end hostilities and establish peace in Jiribam. During the meeting, three key resolutions were made: first, both sides will work to restore normalcy and prevent incidents of firing and arson; second, they will cooperate with security forces in the district; and third, they will ensure controlled and coordinated movement.
