Published On: November 08, 2023 - Owing to the ongoing engine issues, India's largest airline, IndiGo is likely to ground about 35 aircraft in the Jan-March quarter of the current fiscal year. As far as IndiGo is concerned, half of the airline’s fleet depends on the engine maker, Pratt & Whitney (P&W). In the meantime, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has mandated P&W to set up a MRO facility in India. In total, India's commercial aviation fleet ranges between 700-800. Not just IndiGo, Go First airline - which filed for bankruptcy in May this year - also sources its engines from P&W.
