Jio and OneWeb Granted Satellite Internet License in India

Published On: November 10, 2023 - Jio Satellite Communications and OneWeb, backed by Bharti Enterprises, have got the government's licence to provide broadband internet services using satellite. The companies have secured pan-India Internet Service Provider license, crucial for delivering last-mile internet connectivity. The Department of Telecommunications has already granted the global mobile personal communication by satellite services (GMPCS) license to the companies. The license is required to offer satellite-based broadband services in the country.
