Printing Profits

The RBI, a quasi-government undertaking, raked in over Rs 2 lakh cr in profits in the last financial year. That's more than 3x of the profits of one of India’s biggest companies - Reliance. The RBI is responsible for printing currency notes and maintaining their circulation. It earns an income for performing this function, referred to as ‘Seigniorage’.
