Former Union Minister Sharad Pawar, chief of the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), has said many regional parties may merge with the Congress after the 2024 elections. In 1978, Pawar broke away from the Congress to become the youngest chief minister of Maharashtra. He has since returned to the Congress and left again, to form the Nationalist Congress Party.
