Technology has been at the forefront of election campaigning. It was telephone calls in the 1990s, mobile messaging in the 2000s, hologram & social media in the 2010s and now Artificial Intelligence which has the power to create an alternative reality. The authorities are ill-equipped to counter deepfakes as the democratisation of AI means all the powers have been given to the content creator.
