Urban Unemployment Remains High

Published On: December 05, 2023 - India's nationwide unemployment rate decreased to 9.16% in November from a 29-month high of 10.05% in October, marking a slight decline primarily attributed to reduced unemployment in rural areas, as per data from the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE). The rural unemployment rate saw a decrease from 10.82% to 9.05% on the back of rabi-sowing season, whereas the urban unemployment rate increased from 8.44% to 9.39%.
