Who will appoint the judges?

A new battle rages between the judiciary and the executive. In November 2022, Law Minister Kiren Rijiju attacked the higher judiciary. He called the collegium system of appointing judges “alien’ to the constitution and batted for a new system of appointments called the National Judicial Appointment Commission (NJAC). For its part, the Supreme Court struck down NJAC. As the judiciary fights for its independence, the executive hails parliamentary sovereignty. The question then is – Who will appoint the Judges?
