Why is the US Targeting Pakistan's Missile Programme and how will it Impact South Asia?

The United States has imposed sanctions on Pakistan’s missile programme. According to US deputy NSA Jon Finer, Pakistan could eventually have long-range missiles with the capacity to hit targets in the US. Another white house official called these developments an 'emerging threat' to the United States. Pakistan in turn has called the sanctions “unwarranted and discriminatory.”
