Has regional tourism realised its potential in South Asia? In 2019, the number of visitors that visited Europe was about the same as the number that visited neighbouring Sri Lanka. This is despite lower costs, ease of travel and a shared cultural heritage. How can India and South Asia promote regional tourism? Is transcending borders the way forward?

TAAI's 67th Annual Convention in Colombo, Sri Lanka brought together industry leaders, policy makers, decision takers and diverse stakeholders from the travel and tourism sector. With the theme for this year as 'Transcending Borders Transforming Lives,' the convention focused on regional connectivity and regional tourism as the way forward in an uncertain world.
